• A typical thank you email can and should be brief
• Follow the pattern of general to specific to general (G⇒P⇒G) in the content, as illustrated below:
  • General: orient the reader by thanking him/her for the time s/he spent with you on such-and-such a date.
  • Specific: Describe STG that you especially enjoyed or were impressed by.
    • Being specific will help you sound sincere
  • General: Thank the reader again with some kind of positive-looking statement.

Dear Mr. Smith:

Thank you so much for setting aside time to meet with my class today to talk about your communication experiences.

Your point about A, with the example of B, was especially XXX. I also appreciated YYY~~.

You added so much real-world credibility to the strategies and tactics we are learning. I am very grateful.
